2007-01-09 STEVE JOBS’ KEYNOTE – SAN FRANCISCO CA

2007-01-09. Long lines wrapped around the building in the pre-dawn hours, snaking there way through giant rooms that eventually lead to thousands of seats in an enormous darkened auditorium. This was not my first Steve Jobs’ keynote. I was at a Steve-note in January 2000 when MacOS X’s Aqua interface was introduced and Jobs dropped the “i” from his job title to become the CEO. In 2000 it was a keynote that ran for over two-hours and I was impressed that I never lost interest over the whole two-hours, so in 2007, with the new Apple phone rumors, I had very high expectations for this keynote. I was not disappointed.

After reviewing corporate progress over the past year with their stores and iTunes, Jobs began by reminiscing the path Apple has taken part in introducing pivotal products beginning with the Macintosh in 1984, and the iPod in 2001. Funny that the original Apple II (1977) was left off of Jobs’ list. I love that after doing his “a wide-screen iPod, a phone and an internet communicator” litany a couple times Jobs’ said that it was the same device but showed this image:

Just like in 2000, I was blown away and never lost my attention over the full two-hour presentation. I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced that with any other keynote.
