2023 Hawaiian Xmas Trip: Day 18: Heading Home to Las Vegas

2023-12-30. Getting ready to head back to Las Vegas. I’m thinking about the trip but don’t want to rush my reflection. That would be very anti-holiday or anti-Hawaiian mindset. It’s all about taking the time to enjoy the moment. That pretty much sums my feelings about the last 19-days.

Over the stay, I had enjoyed the sounds of the morning, with the wind chimes outside my bedroom sliding door and the sounds of the chickens and roosters off in the distance. I tried to record the wind chimes, but of course once I started to record the wind died down and all you get is the light sprinkles and some bird calls.

Napili morning sounds 2023-12-23

I started washing clothes and packing yesterday. I’d figured out that I would need to check my luggage because my carry-on didn’t fit on the flight out, so with the added t-shirts, etc., I wouldn’t even try and just check the luggage for the flight back to Las Vegas. All that was left was one last breakfast, whatever photo editing/blog stuff that I could fit before the drive to the airport. It’s been a wonderful experience spending my xmas with Joyce and Dano and Nathan and Marie and Aukai and Tony and Holly. I haven’t had this kind of vacation in a very long time. I’m sorry that I didn’t come sooner, when I could have enjoyed Front Street and Lahaina proper. But I look to returning and seeing what wonderful things come from this sad loss. Here are a few images from my last hours in Napili, followed by a couple images from when I was waiting for my flight (I had one last beer and meal). Finally, it was a relatively empty flight back to Las Vegas (I got my own row to myself). I spent most of the flight binge watching episode the the MAX series Mare of Easttown. Good series, weird sad people, that’s one thing about my vacation is that we watched a lot of streaming stuff (more on that in future posts…).
