2023-12-23 11:07 HST. Dano announced that today is the day to go up to Haleakala Observatory. So we geared up of mountain temperatures and the three hour drive. I don’t even remember what we had for breakfast. I grabbed a Diet Pepsi for the drive, a Snapple for the hike(s) and a CLIFbar for a snack. Joyce wisely gave me a snack bag with an ice pack and I put my stuff in there and jumped into the front passenger seat for the trip up the mountain.
Earlier in this trip I’d recorded a short video from the passenger seat during a drive up Joyce & Dano’s bumpy street and I was impressed with my iPhone’s video stabilization, so I decided to shoot a lot of video during our many hour drive up the mountain. During the drive Dano was playing music from Radio Paradise on the car audio system and it provided excellent incidental background music for the clips. Alas, when I went to upload the video to YouTube they had a copyright issue with one of the tracks. It took me several days to find a workaround for that particular track and some of the issues I’ve discovered editing video using iMovie on iPad (not great, see my comments HERE ). But, I’m happy with the results. Enjoy.
